For over a decade, Stouts Creek Compost has been transforming East Texas landscapes through disciplined, science-driven composting. Our blends don't pretend to be synthetic shortcuts — they are the honest result of controlled decomposition, measured aeration, and deep respect for the ground you're working with.
Stouts Creek Compost began with a simple observation: the land around Pickton was tired. Decades of conventional farming and landscaping had depleted the organic matter that makes soil alive. We started composting on a small scale — not because it was trendy, but because it was necessary.
Today, we operate a full-service composting facility on County Road 3372, processing locally sourced feedstocks through a controlled hot-composting method that eliminates pathogens while preserving beneficial microbial life. Every bag we produce carries the same rigor we apply to our own gardens.

Our Method
Controlled From Start to Finish
Composting is not simply letting waste sit. It is a managed biological process — temperature, moisture, and aeration must all be held in balance for the microbes to do their work properly.
01
Source Selection
We accept only clean, verified feedstocks — yard waste, agricultural byproducts, and certified organic matter. Nothing enters our facility that we wouldn't use ourselves.
02
Hot Composting
Our piles are turned and monitored until they reach sustained temperatures of 131°F–160°F. This kills weed seeds and pathogens while preserving beneficial microbial diversity.
03
Curing & Screening
After active decomposition, the material cures for a minimum of 60 days. It is then screened to your specification — fine for gardens, coarse for landscape work.
04
Delivery & Support
We deliver throughout the Pickton and East Texas area and provide guidance on application rates, timing, and soil integration for your specific conditions.
